PERMALIGHT® PRODUCTS|MAKE A STATEMENT FOR SAFETY

PERMALIGHT® offers three Photoluminescent Safety Paint Systems:

  • Two component photoluminescent epoxy paint - concrete floor surfaces, on metal
  • One component photoluminescent acrylic paint - wall surfaces
  • Two component photoluminescent polyurethane paint - industrial areas, on metal, on plastic

Our 1-Component-Acrylic Paint System is non-flammable and non-hazardous.  It gets thinned with water (no solvents!) and is very easy to work with.  You shake the can, open it, stir the paint really well and apply it with an airless spray gun, brush or roller. If you do not finish the job, you can close the can, seal it well and re-use it days later. This paint system is extensively used on US submarines and Coast Guard cutters for evacuation route markings.

Our 2-Component Epoxy Paint System has a high abrasion resistance and is mainly used for concrete floors on platforms, parking decks, highly frequented stairs and in warehouses with forklift traffic. After extensive tests that proved its excellent wear and tear resistance, this photoluminescent epoxy system was installed on the steps & handrails inside the World Trade Center New York stairwells in 1994 and helped aide the evacuation during the September 11, 2001 events.  (Flammable: Class 3, UN 1263)

The 2-component-PU-paint system is well suited for industrial applications where thinned acids, chemicals or lye may be present. This photoluminescent system has been extensively used indoors on Alaska oil rigs where it may get exposed to harsh sea climate, including temperature fluctuations and saltwater.  This system is best suited for use on metal surfaces.  (Flammable: Class 3, UN 1263)

Photoluminescent Paint System steps are

- white primer,
- photoluminescent paint and
- clear protective coating:

  • WHITE primer creates a superior bond between material surface and the photoluminescent paint layers.  WHITE also increases the photoluminescent glowing effect, while dark surfaces (black, blue, etc.) reduce the photoluminescent effect.
  • TWO - THREE (2 - 3) LAYERS of PHOTOLUMINESCENT PAINT (one layer will NOT achieve a high-performance luminance if you have to comply with specific standard requirements!!!)
  • We recommend finishing off the installation using a clear protective coating layer: it protects the yellow photoluminescent paint from dust, dirt, finger prints, foot traffic, etc.  Let the clear coat dry sufficiently until it is fully hardened for optimum performance.
Approximate Paint Consumption: about 1 quart about 1 gallon
WHITE PRIMER 1-kg-unit = 53 square feet 5-kg-bucket set = 265 square feet
PHOTOLUMINESCENT 1-kg-unit = 10 square feet 5-kg-bucket set = 50 square feet
CLEAR COATING 1-kg-unit = 111 square feet 5-kg-bucket set = 555 square feet

1 kg is ABOUT 1 quart. 5-kg is ABOUT one gallon.
